Large multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) -
Up to 200 W is transmitted by 5G BS, approximately twice as high as 4G BS (Ericsson, 2018, 2013). Such a surge in power can cause concern for possible health implications for the population. Prior to the evaluation of the EMF exposure, we should remember that the BS radiation pattern differs more in dynamics and adaptability to the distribution of spatial and time traffic than the previous generation. However, with the area being fixed, the MIMO 4G BSs radiation pattern is nearly static. Since huge MIMO radiation patterns vary in time and space.

In fact, for networks with greater Base Station density, the cell coverage area is less and requires lower transmitted power. In contrast, networks with fewer Base Stations have a wider coverage area for each cell and higher radiated power.
Network densification reduces both the mean and the exposure variance in the area in comparison to traditional networks.
